Dear 2009

You were a pretty good year.  First we started off with Inauguration day

Then we went to Ireland

Then we got the most amazing news in August. (This picture was actually taken in September)

So here's to you 2009, I can't wait to see what 2010 brings.

Maggs

Week 24

Happy V-day to me.  V-day is viability day, which means that if little dude was born now, there is a 50 % chance that he would make it.  After spending enough time on BOTB I know that doesn't mean much, but it's a nice milestone to make.

About baby:

Baby's skin is becoming more opaque as the fat starts to pack on. And, thanks to the formation of small capillaries, her newly thick skin is taking on a fresh pink glow.

About me:

Maternity clothes? yes and I love them. I still wear my regular jeans on the weekend though

Week 22

No more weekly fruit updates. Just monthly now. Holy crap!!!!

About baby boy
Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop

About me:

We came to a decision

We are not going to give baby boy a name until after he's born. We're going to pick out 3 names and then when he's born decide which one fits him best. We're not trying to keep it a secret, but we decided that we want to see what he looks like before giving him a name that is forever.

Week 21

This is my last weekly fruit and then it turns into monthly fruit. Eeep

How's baby?
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

About me:
How far along? 21 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: about 6 lbs

Maternity clothes? yes and I love them

Stretch marks?yup....BOOOOOOOOO

Sleep: waking up at 4:30 every morning, but I'm able to fall right back asleep

What I miss: Having a drink when I have a really bad day

What I am looking forward to: Christmas

Weekly Wisdom: Hug your belly's tightly every day and let your loved ones know how much they mean to you

Milestones: Counting down the days until I get to meet my little boy while sliding down the hill of pregnancy. <----- how cheesy was that? :-)

So sad

A friend of mine from the inter-web went into labor at 24 weeks (16 weeks early) and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Jillian and she weighed 1 lb 9oz. She's been fighting very very hard for her life, but it became too much.  She developed a severe hemmorhage in her brain this evening.  Her parent's are saying good-bye tonight.  Please say a prayer for them as this will be the toughest good-bye they will ever have to say. Please pray for Jillian as she makes her transition from earth to heaven to be with God.

I'm hugging my belly just a little bit tighter tonight and saying a prayer for my little wiggle to stay snuggly warm inside.

Dr. update

Chris and I went to the dr on Thursday for our big ultrasound (anatomy scan) and wiggle looks good, moving around a lot so they couldn't get all the measurements. When we have our 28 week appointment on Feb 1st we'll get another u/s. Wiggle's heart rate was perfect at 162. We do know the baby's sex, and I will post it on here on Tuesday, but I want our extended family to find out first in the Christmas card.

*Aunt Noreen and Aunt Donna will you let me know when you get your card please. :-)

Well I'm off to the Colts game now (GO HORSE)

Week 20

What's going on with baby:
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells) which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are fully formed!!!

How far along? 20 weeks...HALFWAY DONE!!!

Maternity clothes? yes to the pants and moving more to maternity shirts. My regular ones are getting a little short.

Best moment this week: Having the big u/s today!!

Movement: I'm getting some nice kicks

Food cravings: Wendy's chili and baked potato and now cheese sauce.-same-still

Gender: I'm back to thinking girl

Labor Signs: nada

Belly Button in or out? in

What I miss: Not getting winded so easily

What I am looking forward to: Finding out what we're having and sending out our Christmas cards to let our extended family know.

Weekly Wisdom: Sciatica pain is the devil, but still using my heating pad to help it.

Milestones: Being halfway done with the pregnancy. Besides the sciatica pain, I'm loving being pregnant!

Have no fear Abbey, I found it

On Thanksgiving my niece, Abbey (who will be 9 in Feb) walked up to me tilted her head sideways and stated "You don't look pregnant." I just laughed, because well, I don't really yet. Of course to me and people who know me think I do, but a stranger probably just thinks I'm fat. It's ok Mr. Stranger, unless you are pregnant, I at least have a reason now for looking fat. And what's your excuse again...oh right, the beer. lol

Anyway, I went to the bathroom at work today and what did I see. Well I think I see my tummy getting rounder and looking more pregnant.

So for you Abbey, here is a shot that I took today (yes with the lovely tampon machine, sorry).

Yes I know

I suck. I don't have a week 19 picture or the weekly check in. I'm so stinkin' excited for Thursday that I keep forgetting to take a picture.  I'll make sure to get back to my regularly scheduled postings on Thursday.  Also just a reminder, I will not be putting the baby's gender on here until after I've sent out my Christmas cards, going in the mail on Friday, as I have some family that reads this blog.

FOUR DAYS until I get to see my baby, FOUR DAYS until we know what we're having, FOUR DAYS until I've reached the halfway point! FOUR DAYS....................

Happy Thanksgiving

Every year we have so much to be thankful for, but this year is a little, ok A LOT more special. I'm so thankful for my family, my friends who are family, both of us having stable jobs that allow us to be able to have what we need and what we want, our health, Snoopy and of course Wiggle. I'm so thankful that for the past couple of weeks every once in awhile I can feel Wiggle squirming around.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Week 18 *edited*

What's going on in there?

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

Well I can't give you a weekly update because the stupid computer won't let me copy and paste.  I'm 18 weeks, feeling some kicks more of the kid doing the worm in there. I love to sleep and I'm enjoying this pregnancy so much!

I have a picture but blogger is being horrible and not uploading so I'll edit this once I get home.

Way to pull out the win!!! Oh and thanks to the crowd I felt an awesome kick to the appendix.  I don't think Wiggle was amused by the screaming. Or Wiggs was trying to tell me to shut up since I was screaming so much.

I haven't forgotten

I'm waiting until tonight to post my weekly updates. I'm tired of having the tampon machine in the reflection in the mirror of my belly shots so I'm going to wait until Chris can take it tonight.  I'm also waiting to get pictures from my friend Callie. We used to work together and then she moved away.  She came back to town this week and we went to lunch yesterday at Olive Garden. (YUM) But she took a picture of me and then of us. I  can't wait to see those pictures!

So I will update tonight, but it might be late as we're going to go watch the Brownsburg Varsity Football team tonight with Chris's co-worker.

Dr appointment

I really wanted to title the post the same as after my last appointment. There really is a baby in there.  Dr said that everything is looking great so far. My bp was 118/60, which is surprising with how nervous I was. I'm so afraid of the chance of a missed m/c. So on the way to the appointment we were rocking out to Linkin Park. I'm up a total of 3 lbs which is not bad at all!

On to the more important number. Wiggle's heart beat was 168 again! She was surprised that it was still that high, but I explained that we were dancing in the car. She gave me the information for our next appointment which is when we'll be finding out.  I won't be posting it on the blog because I'm telling extended family in our Christmas card so I don't want to spoil it.

Holy crap, how am I 16 weeks 4 days pregnant?  I know, I know time flies when you're having fun. :-)

Week 16

What's going on in there.
Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

How far along? 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: about 3 lbs

Maternity clothes? yes to the pants and mixing up between regular shirts and maternity shirts.

Stretch marks? no new ones

Sleep: Loving it, but starting to wake up more. That might have to do with Chris's cold though.

Best moment this week: Every day being pregnant.

Movement: I think I'm feeling the flutters again

Food cravings: Wendy's chili and baked potato and now cheese sauce.

Gender: I'm back to thinking girl

Labor Signs: nada

Belly Button in or out? in

What I miss: Nothing really

What I am looking forward to: All of my Thanksgivings and hearing the heart beat again on Monday.

Week 15-lots of pics

Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can't feel the movements.

Pack n Play

At work we are raising money to help my co-worker's family for Christmas. He's been in the hospital since July 21st and we decided to adopt his family so his kids could have a nice Christmas.

We had a salvage sale, basically if we (moving company) damaged or forgot to bring an item and we've already reimbursed the customer we hold on to it. Every few years if there are items that are salvageable we have a sale for the employees. Well to help raise money we decided to have another sale. * Again, the customer was already reimbursed for the item.*

Anyway there was a nice pack n play. There are 2 other woman pregnant at work so I was nervous if I would should bid on it and for how much. I ended up being the only person who bid on it and ended up saving about $75 for a perfectly good PnP to live at my parent's house. Here are some pictures of it and I needed something to do with my stuffed animals, so I put them in there. :-)

week 14

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

How far along? 14wks 3d
Total weight gain/loss: about 2 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I've started to wear the pants more. I'll be doing some more shopping soon.

Stretch marks? no new ones

Milestones: Making it another week.

week 13

Mmmmm Peaches.

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

How far along? 13 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: about 2 lbs.
Maternity clothes? I have some, but I've only been wearing the sweaters.

Stretch marks? no new ones

Sleep: mmmm sleep

Best moment this week: Hearing my baby again at the dr. Oh and it being official since Facebook knows now. lol

Movement: I've felt flutters twice.

Food cravings: Wendy's chili and baked potato

Gender: I'm giving up on guessing. I'm just going to wait until 12/3 lol

Labor Signs: nada

Belly Button in or out? in

What I miss: picking up snoopy

What I am looking forward to: Making it another week.

Weekly Wisdom: You know your own body, if you think you feel flutters don't let anyone tell you differently.

There really is a baby in there

We went over some questions that I had and then she put the doppler to my tummy. She found wiggles hear beat right away. I asked if that was it because I remember going to my sister's appointments and they would listen to her heart beat first and then listening to Abbey's. Wiggle's heart rate was 168 so a little lower then last time. Dr. B also said that I'm measuring right on time. I've lost 2 lbs which is fine because of my starting size and because I'm eating healthier and getting more exercise. I go back again on 11/9 and then my appointment after that is when we find out what we're having!

I also told everyone at work today. I got a lot of hugs and congrats and even a "I'm going to be a grandma". While I'm terribly excited I'm also hurting. Someone who I consider to be a close friend had a loss back in April. She has known from the second day that I'm pregnant, but today was especially hard on her. I know there is nothing that I did or can do, but I'm so sad that I "made" her cry. I know that she is not upset with me, but her heart hurts for her lost baby. If you could keep my friend in your prayers I would appreciate it.

Squeee

Yes I know I forgot to post my weekly update, but that's ok. I can blame it on pregnancy brain. :-)

Anyway, tomorrow I have a 9am Dr's appointment and we'll get to hear the baby again! Then when I get to work I'm finally telling everyone! I almost out of the 1st trimester (on Sunday) so once I hear the heart beat again I will hopefully feel more confident.

Another exciting thing is that I've started feeling flutters. Yes I know it's early, but I know it's what they are. I've had the gas bubbles and those most definitely feel different then the tickling feeling that I've gotten. It's kind of a nice little reminder instead of the constant cramps from all the pulling and growing.

Less than 200 days!!!

I can't believe that when we found out we had this....

And now we have this .....
I can now feel my uterous, thanks to Michelle for telling me how to find it, and it's amazing! Wednesday is our anniversary and this may be the only one that I won't be toasting with a drink and I love it! Chris asked if we're doing presents and I said no. Mainly because I forgot to buy him something and he comes back with "Good, I already gave you your present" and then pointed to my belly. He doesn't know, but I did get him something. I'm just really bad at keeping secrets so I told him I forgot. :-)
We've got our next doctor's appointment next Tuesday. Hopefully we'll get to hear wiggle on the doppler. We decided not to do any genetic testing. It won't change what we do and there is too high a risk of false positives. No point in getting worried over something I can't change.

Or maybe it's just me thinking about food as I sit here eating my pickle. mmm pickles. :-)

I can.not.wait for Thanksgiving! I get to eat to my hearts content...twice! I mean I normally do every year, but then feel guilty and make Chris go for a walk with me. Now when we go for our walk there will be no guilt behind it. I already have visions of mashed potatoes (regular ma', no ranch in there. ;-)) dancing in my head with the smells of turkey in my nose.

Had a great day today!

Chris is taking classes this weekend to learn how to ride (drive?) a motorcycle. So I took that time to go downtown to go shopping with my momma. First we got lunch, hey wiggle was hungry, and then we went to kohls. I got some great maternity clothes that are super comfortable. Granted I don't need them yet, but they were on sale! Seriously, why aren't we wearing elastic pants all the time?!? While trying on one of the shirts I came out of the dressing room and said "mom this is huge" She looked at me like I was nuts and I realized, oh yeah, I'm gonna get huge. lol

Later my dad made us an awesome dinner of fish and home made fries. Sooo yummy!

It's almost 9:15 so that means it's time for bed.

Holy crap, I can't believe I'm already at 10 weeks. It seems like we just found out, but really it's been 6 weeks. Yes mom, it's been 6 weeks for us knowing and 1 week you knowing.

I'm still feeling fantastic, just exhausted! I'm craving a lot of healthy stuff and my pants are actually getting looser. At night I've got a sweet bloat belly going on, but no baby bump yet. Hopefully in the next month or so I'll start to get one.

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Yay the important people know

We finally told my parent's last night. I made a photo book of Chris and I throughout our relationship. At the end of the book I put this picture. My mom was looking through the photo book, which seemed like it took 10 minutes. lol When she got to the page with Snoopy, she was like is that Michelle's dog (my best friend is 8 1/2 months pg) then she turned the page to see the ultra sound picture and screeched at the top of her lungs. Jumped up, hugged me and then proceeded to bawl. It was great. My dad was still trying to figure out what was going on since he didn't see the book. When he saw he was....wait I don't know, I didn't see it because I was still hugging my momma.
The couple sitting next to us at the restaurant as they were leaving said, "Thanks for ruining our dinner." "We were trying to eat our dinner, but all we could do is cry Congratulations."
I'm still waiting to tell work, last night I had a dream about it. I just couldn't shake the odd feeling and decided I should wait. Granted the rest of the world will soon know.

Here is wiggle! I'm measuring 8w6d, but they are going to keep my due date so I'm still 8w4d. We saw the heart beat right away and then the tech turned on the sound. The heart rate was 171 and the most amazing sound I've heard. I'm absolutely in love with this little baby.

We finally convinced my in-laws that we had to see them tonight. We got them a frame that says baby and put one of the u/s pictures in there. My mother in law started to open it and was like oh it's a frame and then she looked at and said "Oh!!!" She then handed it to my father in law and he was like oh that's really..."Oh!!!!!" Both of their jaws dropped and they hugged us right away. It was amazing to finally be able to tell them.

I can't wait to tell my parent's on Thursday!

2 Firsts

I had my first major breakdown last night. I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep and a huge wave of being in love with Chris. I wanted him to come up and snuggle with me for a few minutes while I fell asleep. So I sent him a text saying I needed him. (Much easier to do that then scream for him, or fall out of the bed to open the door.) He came up and asked what I wanted and I said to snuggle. He said no, and I tried to remind him that he's leaving until Monday and I wanted to spend time with him. He responded back with "You're driving me to drink." I lost it! I couldn't stop crying, but I don't know why I was crying. Well yeah I know why I was crying, but pre-pregnancy that wouldn't have bothered me. I mean I cried for a good 10 minutes.

He did finally apologize, but I think he now thinks I'm just a crazy pregnant lady. hahaha

My 2nd first is waking up at 3:30 to pee. Normally I just wake up at 6:30 for the day, but nope not today. I foresee many, MANY nights ahead of me getting up at that time.

Week 6

Yeah, it's almost week 7 and I'm just now getting this up.

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

Week 5

Your baby is about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. The big development this week: Your baby's brain is beginning to grow! It develops from the neural tube, a structure that will also spawn your baby's spinal cord, nerves, and backbone. Since folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida, you can see why it's so important to take it while trying to conceive and early in pregnancy. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job.

I'm feeling really good. I get bouts of nausea, but it passes after I eat something. I have a new bed time of 10 now and I have a feeling it will get earlier. Chris and I are having fun talking about all the new things to come. Like me not being able to fit in a booth seat in a few months. lol I can't wait for our first appointment. I know time is going to feel like it's dragging, but April will be here before we know it.

Week 4

In week 4, now safe in your womb, the ball of cells (blastocyst) splits in two, becoming the embryo and the placenta. The amniotic sac and fluid are forming around baby, and will act as a cushion for the next eight months.
